TEAM Sparklets of Sri Kuala Lumpur emerged
champions in the Junior Animation Challenge (JAC) competition
held recently.
The team, who sent in their entry, entitled The Ungrateful
Boy, edged team Zooxie’s entry, entitled Zooxie, in the
category for the 16-year-olds. JAC is a
team-based animation competition organised by Transtel Technology
Sdn Bhd, MdeC and MRCB-Technologies as part of the MSC Multimedia
Creative Content Initiative to help cultivate and nurture
creative thinking in primary and secondary school students.

The theme of the competition was My Pet Alien
and the teams were required to create a story about their
pet alien with a moral message in it.
The teams had to submit a one-page synopsis,
a storyboard with a minimum of five panels, and an animated
clip.
The organisers conducted a half-day workshop
for participating schools and they were given a month to create
their animated short stories which were submitted at the end
of November last year.
The entries were then judged at the Creative
Innovation Centre by personalities from the creative content
industry, namely Vernon Fernandez, Kamn Ismail, Syed Hassan
Al-Masyoor, Siow Aik Wee and Don Cham Pi.
The entries for the seven to 12 age group were
Working Together by Cute Toonz, A Lesson Learnt by D.O.T.Z,
Camping with my Pet Alien by Peoples, A Lesson I will Never
Forget by Arrows, The Flaming Aliens by Lucky 7, My New Pet
by The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, You + Me = Best Friend
by Alienfan, !!Death to the Obese!! By Da Nerdz and The Invasion
of IT by Chikachika Wawa Group.
The others are The Lolo and Friends by The Lolo and Friends
team, Sunny by Team Sunny, and The Heroic Flufee by The Fluffster
