BEAUTY and the Beast is a story well loved by
both young and old – little wonder then that a full
house turned up at the musical play put up by Year Four and
Five pupils of Sri Kuala Lumpur Primary School recently.
“Although a maiden venture by the youngsters,
the primary pupils are in fact keeping up the tradition established
by their older buddies in the secondary school who have staged
productions like “The King And I,” said Sri Kuala
Lumpur general manager Hanif Merican.
He was pleased that the talent of the 10 and
11 year olds was being nurtured in tandem with the school’s
philosophy of developing students to their full potential.

The school’s executive chairman Tan Sri
Datuk Othman Merican praised the entire primary school team
for putting on the production, noting that the teamwork and
dedication displayed had greatly enriched their school experience.
The young cast was led by Bara Ying from Year
Four as Belle and Muhammad Nicholas Malcolm from Year Five
as the Beast.
The hour-long drama had the audience glued to
their seats. It was held in the school auditorium in Subang
Jaya.
The school’s principal Dr Tan Khun thanked
parents for being supportive, both in spirit as well as in
action, as the proceeds from their donations were channelled
to the University Malaya Medical Centre's Paediatric Unit
for critically ill children.
Sri Kuala Lumpur pupils accompanied Dr Tan to
the the hospital’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
to present the collection of RM3,030 to its head, Assoc Prof
Dr Lucy Lum.
