Actions proved to be so much more louder
than words at Sri Kuala Lumpur School recently during the
school’s 29th fundraiser themed ‘The
Magic of Sharing’.
The school’s community consisting of
students and the Parent-Teacher Association managed to raise
more funds than what was targeted, to be distributed to 10
selected charitable institutions.
Thanks to their amazing efforts, they managed
to raise more than RM450,000 via a series of activities held.
The drive began in May with the Leo Club’s
Charity dinner at Sheraton Hotel. This was followed by the
staging of Thumbelina - a musical drama that high
lighted young talents from the primary school - June.
A day long food and fun fiesta in July was then held on the
school grounds where students, staff and parents once again
diligently set out to raise more funds.
A week later, a golf tournament, dinner and
a raffle draw were held at Kota Permai Golf and Country Club
as the final stage of the charity drive. All the events had
served to unite the staff, parents and students in a massive
attempt to help the underprivileged and foster a sense of
compassion in the youngsters from preschool, primary and secondary
sections.
Sri Kuala Lumpur School held the cheque presentation
recently in conjunction with the annual Merdeka celebrations.
The guest list included assemblywoman for Subang Jaya Hannah
Yeoh, representatives from the selected beneficiaries and
Mohd Azri Jailani from the Ministry of Education’s private
schools division.
Executive chairman of OM Education Sdn Bhd
Tan Sri Dato'Ir. Othman Merican presented the cheques with
a total value of RM463,561.89 to the institutions and individuals
from Subang Jaya and neighbouring constituencies.
