MOST students would have preferred to stay
in the comfort of their own homes during the year-end school
break.
However, several Sri Kuala Lumpur primary school pupils went
back to school.
The 32 participants, aged between seven and 11 years, took
part in the third edition of the Total Gymnas-tique's gymnastics
camp at the Sri Kuala Lumpur gymnasium in Subang Jaya from
Nov 20 to 23.
Energetic: The pupils taking turns
jumping on a trampoline.
They had a splendid time with many activities
lined up for them at the three-and-half-day of fun-filled
educational stint.
Total Gymnastique chief coach Mike Ng said parents had enquired
about the camp even before the school holidays began.
The camp was more than just about learning acrobatic routines.
The participants were also taught basic first aid and cheerleading
skills.
Besides that, the energetic young participants indulged in
various indoor and outdoor games under the supervision of
the coaching crew.
They were divided into four teams - Acrobats, Acrohawks, Acrocrocs
and Acrofoxs - to vie in the team competition.
“It is an opportunity for the children to develop self-confidence
and team building spirit while they integrate with their peers,”
said Ng.
Although activities ended early in the evening for the first
two days, the children were allowed to stretch their sense
of adventure on the third day.
Wet fun: (From left) Samantha Gan,
Chloe Yap, Adinda Sarah Rinaldi and Ros Maizura having a splashing
time at the pool.
For a start, they visited the Bird Park in
Lake Gardens followed by a splashing time at the school's
pool after lunch.
“They had to answer a multi-choice questionnaire with
10 questions while they went on a stroll at the park. Their
individual marks contributed to their respective teams' final
scores,” added Ng.
Nine-year-old Niklas Er from SJK (C) Yuk Chai, Petaling Jaya
said it was his second time attending the camp.
“I have been training with the Total Gymnastique for
the past two years. And this is an event that I always look
forward to because it is enjoyable,'' he said.
