Principal's Message
for 2009 Session
Dear Parents and Friends of
the School,
The school has had an eventful,
if not hectic 2008. And, thankfully, with our traditional
spirit of camaraderie and excellent teamwork, we can all look
back to the year with pride and say that the eventful year
was also one of great productivity and good harvest. I wish
to take this opportunity to convey my deep appreciation to
all for having put in your best efforts throughout the year.
Clearly, good efforts alone are not enough , it is the harmonious
relationship honed over the years by each and every member
of the staff and the entire body of parents that makes the
difference. It is my hope that we continue to nurture this
precious environment of harmony so that our efforts will be
more efficiently translated to better outcomes as time progresses.
Exam results never fail to hog
the limelight in our exam-oriented society. The 2008 UPSR
results came at the end of the session and the nation’s
press again had a field day playing up the results, individuals’
as well as schools’. Under this kind of press coverage,
pressure on schools can be quite over-whelming and academic
results tend to rule the day if not the school’s entire
existence. Sri KL is not spared from this predicament and
while our results maintain a steady improvement over the last
three years (2008: 39.6% with 5As), it is a relentless exercise
to convince our clients about the importance of an education
that is holistic and free from the constraints of an overly
examination-oriented interpretation of the curriculum.
We shall continue to present
our case and make meaningful adjustments to the curriculum
to encourage our students to explore their potentials beyond
the academic cum exam-sensitive subjects. The coming year
shall see more time and effort put on physical education,
and a new art studio where a much-improved platform for our
students to discover themselves in art and crafts will be
provided. Along with this, a sun-shade will be built over
the swimming pool and the tennis court thus providing a much-anticipated
relief for our students from the harsh rays of the sun. With
all this we hope to improve our learning environment where
the child will have more avenues to expend his energy and
develop his talents more gainfully.
Thus we have good reasons to
look forward to another year of fruitful work , good productivity
in an environment which promotes the concept of holistic education
for our children.
